Clearwater Central Catholic quarterback Khayse Barrett continues to establish himself as one of the more dynamic dual-threat prospects in Florida’s Class of 2027. With a strong arm, powerful frame and the ability to make plays with his legs, Barrett has become a major piece of an explosive CCC offense.
At around 200-plus pounds, Barrett is a difficult quarterback to bring down once he gets moving. That physical running ability complements what he can do through the air. As a junior, he threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns while adding 604 rushing yards and five scores.
His senior season has started in impressive fashion. Barrett rushed for 125 yards while throwing for 109 against Palmetto, then followed it with a huge performance against Port Charlotte, throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 181 yards and another score.
CCC also has plenty of weapons around him. Luke Wilson and senior Malik Newton headline a talented receiving corps, while Daveon Belhomme adds another playmaker to the mix. Senior quarterback Sean Hickey II provides additional versatility, giving CCC multiple ways to attack opposing defenses.
Barrett has already drawn considerable attention from college programs, and his early senior-season production should only increase that interest. If he continues playing at this level, the offers should begin pouring in as programs take a closer look at one of the more intriguing quarterback prospects in the 2027 class.
Preps Next has Barrett firmly on the radar. With a big senior season beginning to take shape, he has an opportunity to continue raising his stock and establish himself among Florida’s top 2027 prospects.
