Cardiinal Mooney’s Cedrick King Jr. Looks Ready for a Breakout Junior Season

· 1 min read · 351

It took just one game for Cedrick “CJ” King Jr. to make something very clear — Cardinal Mooney has another major playmaker on its hands.

Coach Dana
Coach Dana says: AI Opinion CJ King’s 150‑yard, three‑touchdown debut signals he’s the immediate go‑to weapon in a high‑tempo Florida offense, making him a prime 3‑star wide‑receiver target for any SEC program needing a playmaker who can produce big‑play yardage out of the slot.

After transferring from Wiregrass Ranch, King entered his junior season with an opportunity to establish himself in one of Florida’s most explosive offenses. His season-opening performance showed exactly why his name is quickly becoming one to know.

King delivered one of the most dominant receiving performances of opening weekend, finishing with six receptions for 150+ yards and three touchdowns in Cardinal Mooney’s 39-21 victory over Berkeley Prep. His night was highlighted by an 85-yard touchdown to open the second half, putting his game-changing speed on full display.

When you watch King, it’s easy to see why he’s become such a dangerous weapon. The two-way standout combines great route-running ability, exceptional hands and legitimate home-run speed after the catch. He can create separation, attack the football and turn a routine completion into a touchdown in an instant. All while being an asset on the defensive side of the ball as a cover corner.

The chemistry between King and four-star Florida commit Davin Davidson is also impossible to ignore. Davidson has a talented receiving corps around him, but King has quickly shown that he has become one of his most dangerous targets. With multiple weapons demanding attention, defenses won’t have the luxury of simply rolling coverage toward King on every snap.

That’s what can make this Cardinal Mooney offense extremely difficult to stop.

Coming off a championship season, the Cougars have their sights set on going back-to-back, and King gives an already loaded offense another legitimate game changer. At 6-foot, 160 pounds, the Class of 2028 WR/DB has the versatility to impact the game on both sides of the football.

His recruitment should continue to rise right along with his production. As more Power Four programs get an opportunity to see him this season, don’t be surprised to see King’s offer list continue to stack up from programs across the country.

If the opener was any indication, Cedrick King Jr. isn’t just headed toward a breakout junior season — he’s becoming one of the most dangerous playmakers in Florida.
