Antayos Kabaalu is quickly establishing himself as one of the more intriguing defensive line prospects in the Tampa Bay area, and his dominant start to the season is beginning to translate into serious college attention.
The St. Petersburg Catholic defensive tackle has been a disruptive force through the opening stretch of the season. At roughly 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, Kabaalu brings legitimate size, power and explosiveness to the interior. He has shown the ability to collapse the pocket, get into the backfield and consistently make things uncomfortable for opposing offenses.
His strong play is also starting to show up on the recruiting trail. Colleges have been evaluating Kabaalu closely, and the offers are beginning to come in. USF recently extended an offer, joining North Dakota State (NDSU) among the programs that have offered Kabaalu. The growing interest is another indication that college staffs are taking notice of what he is putting on film.
Kabaalu has the physical tools that immediately grab attention, but his production is what is beginning to separate him. He plays with power at the point of attack, moves extremely well for his size and has shown the ability to impact both the running and passing game from the interior.
The next few games should give Kabaalu another opportunity to build on an impressive start and continue putting strong film in front of college coaches. With his combination of size, athleticism and early-season dominance, his recruitment is beginning to gain real momentum.
With USF and NDSU already on the offer sheet, Kabaalu is becoming a prospect to keep a close eye on as the season moves forward.
