St. Petersburg Catholic has one of the most explosive offenses in the Tampa Bay area, and while the skill players continue to put up numbers, one of the biggest reasons for that success starts up front with four-star offensive tackle Quinston Howard.
The Class of 2028 standout is already an elite offensive line prospect. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, Howard combines tremendous size with strength, athleticism and the ability to control defenders at the point of attack. Whether he is protecting quarterback Chase Burrill or creating running lanes, Howard has become one of the most important pieces of the Barons’ offense.
His impact can be seen in the production around him. SPC is averaging 40 points per game, while Burrill has already thrown nine touchdown passes and running back Larry Christian is averaging more than 100 rushing yards per game. Howard has also been credited with three pancake blocks, giving another glimpse into the physical presence he brings to the offensive line.
For Burrill, having an elite tackle protecting the edge is a major advantage. SPC wants to attack defenses vertically and put the football into the hands of its playmakers, and that requires time in the pocket. Howard has consistently shown the ability to provide that protection while also using his massive frame and power to move defenders in the running game.
College programs already understand what SPC has protecting its offense. Howard has attracted major Power Four attention and holds an impressive collection of offers, with programs such as Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky, Nebraska and Wisconsin among the schools that have reportedly entered his recruitment.
And he’s only a junior.
Howard will have another major opportunity to showcase his ability when St. Petersburg Catholic meets Clearwater Central Catholic on September 18. Games like this are built for elite offensive linemen. CCC brings a physical defensive front, and Howard’s ability to control the edge, protect Burrill and help establish the running game could become one of the defining matchups of the night.
There is no need to talk about what Quinston Howard might eventually become. He is already one of the elite offensive tackles in Florida’s 2028 class.
At 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds, with Power Four programs already pursuing him and an offense thriving behind his protection, Howard has established himself as a major prospect in the trenches. As SPC continues its push toward becoming one of the state’s premier teams, expect No. 70 to be right in the middle of it — protecting, creating lanes and setting the tone up front.
